Hollywood screenwriter Ben Hecht wrote a nonfiction account of how, toward the end of the Holocaust, the Jews of Hungary were betrayed by Rezso (Rudolph) Kasztner, deputy head of Va'ada, the Relief and Rescue Committee, an ideological affiliate of Mapai (later to become the Israeli Labour Party).
