Martine Powell

Martine Powell is a Professor in the Griffith Criminology Institute and Founding Director of the Centre for Investigative Interviewing (CII) at Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia). She holds a BA (Hons) and MClinPsych and completed her PhD and postdoctoral studies in the area of child witness testimony. Professor Powell has more than 28 years of experience researching investigative interviewing. Her publications address four themes: analyses of memory and language, the effectiveness of various interview techniques, development of strategies to promote transfer of learning from interviewer training programs to the field, and evaluations of justice reforms related to sexual abuse investigation. Professor Powell has designed, implemented and evaluated interviewer training programs for a diverse range of professional groups. She is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and recipient of the 2011 Most Distinguished Contribution to Forensic Psychology Award, College of Forensic Psychologists.
