Ageing city-dwellers are at greater risk of non-infectious chronic diseases than people in rural and remote areas, a Sydney University study has indicated.
The seven year longitudinal data of 1,256 over 45 year olds living in the same area for at least 20 years, indicated chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, arthritis, cancer and asthma were more prevalent in those living in urban areas.
