Concerns of TB incidence in Fiji.

While Fiji is considered to be a country with a low incidence of tuberculosis in the pacific, there is concern the incidence of the disease may not be decreasing.
Results of a cross sectional study of 300 nurses conducted in Fiji was presented at the recent South Pacific Nurses Forum. The study found the majority of nurses' knowledge of tuberculosis (TB) was either 'good' or very good'. However, only 60% of nurse participants were aware of the 'Directly-Observed Treatment Short' course (DOTS) of TB, while 40% were unaware.
