I agree with the author of the letter "Student dilemma" (Mail April ANJ). Partnering student nurses with clinicians, though great in theory, does them a significant disservice, as clinicians have neither the training nor expertise to adequately teach, precept, or assess students, and very often aren't given advance notice. I was disappointed, then, to read that s/he believes clinicians "are disinterested in educating our new nurses." I am not surprised to hear nurses report not wanting to...
