WHO'S BEST FOR AUSTRALIA?

As one of America's closest allies, historically dependent on the strategic security the alliance provides, Australia has a strong interest in the current race for the White House.

As this issue goes to press it is still unclear whether Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic Party's candidate. Almost certainly John McCain will be the Republican candidate. From the perspective of National Observer none of these candidates is great news, and in Clinton's case very far from it.

If one wanted John McCain to win the presidency one would hope that Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic candidate, because her hate-factor is around 46 per cent nationally, and she therefore has almost no chance of beating McCain, who, even if he is not especially liked, even by most...
