A new short-term rehabilitation unit at Fremantle Hospital is helping elderly patients become more independent and ready for discharge back home.
Since its inception in September 2011, the Geriatric Evaluation Management Unit (GEM) has treated more than 320 patients with an average stay of around nine days.
