Land infrastructure efficiencies need to match port gains.

Gains already made in port efficiencies need to be supported by enhanced land-side infrastructure planning and logistics efficiencies along supply chain, according to Sydney Corporation CEO Greg Martin.

Martin made the comment at the Australian Rain Summit 2003 held in Sydney last month.

"Sydney is one of the most efficient ports in Australia; it is no point holding this mantle if land-transport logistics and infrastructure do not facilitate and build on port efficiency gains," Martin says.

"Sydney Ports has a leading role in ensuring the efficient transportation of cargo to and from the port is achieved.
