A midwifery education and support program for rural practitioners is at risk after the Victorian Government withdrew funding for it to continue.
The service, provided by clinical midwife consultants, aims to support midwives and doctors throughout rural Victoria to improve the sustainability of rural maternity services.
The Department of Health has advised funding will stop in June and health services will have to find money if they want the program to continue.
