Evidence has found that hospital based nurse educators influence safe patient outcomes through contemporary evidence based teaching and their contribution to policy development supports safe practice.
However, role ambiguity together with differing nomenclature associated with nurse educator position titles has added to confusion about the expectations and responsibilities of nurse educators (Sayers et al 2011).
