Rural health services are losing their nursing staff because of misaligned values, research shows.
Dr Susan Bragg, who recently graduated with a PhD from the Charles Sturt University, investigated the reasons why nurses resign from NSW rural hospitals. Her results found that nurses often resigned if their values differed from the values of the health service. "I found that there were certain things that happen in rural hospitals that made the nurses' values and the hospital values diverge," she said.
