With a brief to prey on stressed and underperforming assets, it is little wonder property group Thakral Holdings is focusing its attention on parts of Asia.

Thakral Holding's chief executive officer Mr John Schaap recently had someone from the Singapore-controlled, Australian-listed business "do a sweep around Asia" in search of prospective properties and developments.

"We are always interested in acquisitions. We are being conservative because sellers are expecting a margin and we are not the sort of sellers who like to pay premiums," Mr Schaap said.
